About Basic Capital

Basic Capital is a fintech working to reduce wealth inequality by building the mortgage for retirement, unlocking market ownership for all. We’re building products, platforms, and a credit marketplace to power a fundamentally new retirement system.

Backed by Lux Capital, BoxGroup, SVAngel, Inspired Capital, and Henry Kravis, our team’s expertise spans Goldman Sachs, Block/Square, Uber, Robinhood, Alloy, and Level. Based in Soho, NYC, we’re assembling a lean and high-performance in-person team.

Mission of Role

Build and scale complex backend financial systems, including trading systems, asset management systems, ledgers, and integrations with institutional partners.

You will

+ Shape our architecture and build new APIs, services, workflows, and infrastructure from scratch

+ Ensure backend systems are reliable and secure

+ Work cross-functionally to translate complex systems and business logic into scalable and intuitive software

Required Competencies

+ Strong experience with modern backend frameworks, API design, and event-driven systems

+ Strong architecture design and problem-solving skills

+ Proficiency in any of the following: Kotlin, Rust, Java, Go, C/C++, Python, Ruby, or TypeScript

+ Experience working with MySQL or PostgreSQL

+ Experience with modern build systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure)

Preferred Competencies

+ Experience building trading systems and asset management systems

+ Experience in fintech or early-stage technology companies

+ Experience working in Kotlin backends

Compensation

This role has a base salary range of $180,000-$200,000 and offers equity compensation.
